Standard Distributing Replaces Telxons with POW® from Ai2

C-Store Distributor Upgrades to a Windows Solution from an Older Legacy Product

CHICAGO – January 6, 2010 – Software development firm Ai2 announced today that Standard Distributing of Sepulpa, OK was to begin using Ai2’s remote software solution POW.  Standard will implement the solution for its mobile field sales force, allowing the company to replace Telxon units and give salespeople more capability and dependable communication in the field.

Standard chose Access for its innovation, dedication to the convenience store industry and its flexible POW® application.  With the application, Standard will solve the communication problems that plagued the older devices.  Their sales force will now be able to scan, take orders, help the customer maintain stock levels, see accounting information such as invoices, and more.  Superior management of information will allow a salesperson to be more productive in the field.

"We’re thrilled to have Standard aboard.  This is a good example of Ai2 solving the myriad problems that come with reliance on older technology.  Our clients depend on that," said Douglas Katich, CEO of Ai2.

POW® is Access’ mobile computing system for outside sales representatives who must generate daily orders and obtain regularly updated customer and product information.  Using mobile handheld computers, POW® allows salespeople to scan, type, write, generate orders, receive messages and manage customer accounts with one convenient application.

Over the years Standard has grown from serving a four county area and 200 customers to serving all of Northeastern Oklahoma and part of Southwestern Missouri, with over 1,000 customers. Growth of the business required construction of their own 10,000 square foot warehouse in 1979 as the customer base changed from large independent grocery stores and supermarkets to chain convenience stores and supermarkets, restaurants, service stations, schools, etc.  The product line also diversified: beverages, health and beauty aids, groceries, frozen foods and deli products, paper and janitorial supplies and many others are now staples of the business.  Growing business and additional products forced a 2,400 square foot warehouse addition in 1981 and expansion to 25,000 square feet six years later.  The name change to Standard Distributing in 1992 reflects this growth and diversity of products.  Current ownership represents the fourth generation of the Naifeh family to become part of the management team.  The first quarter of 2000 saw the completion of a major warehouse modernization program under their guidance.  For more on Standard, visit www.standarddistributing.com.

Ai2 (formerly Access International) is a 24-year old software firm headquartered in downtown Chicago.  Their applications are used by over 40,000 users each day to capture over 40 billion dollars in sales each year.  Ai2 improves the order entry process for some of the nation’s largest distributors in foodservice, convenience store, grocery, beverage, hardware, medical, beauty and industrial supply.  For more information about Ai2, visit www.ai2.com.
