Ai2 Adds Scanning To Web Order Entry to Create Zap-It™
Scanner to Improve Retailer Business Operations
CHICAGO – June 11, 2010 – Software development firm Ai2 announced a value-added module for users of their WebWriter solution. Adding a bar code scanner to the Web-based order entry module will help retailers increase the speed with which they place an order to a distributor.
Aimed at distributors servicing customers with Web access, Zap-It integrates a low cost bar code scanner with a Web program for building and sending orders to a distributor. The scanner, an Opticon OPN 2002, attaches via USB and uploads an order to WebWriter. Once the order is loaded, a customer can easily add to it, delete items, or search a database for items and specials.
“Many retailers simply have to have scanning or they won’t use a particular order entry application,” said Ray Walsh, Vice President of sales for Ai2. “Customers like scanning because they can walk the aisle while taking their order instead of being in the back room trying to remember exactly what’s on the store shelf.” Zap-It “also lowers the cost of automating each customer, since the scanner is more affordable than a more robust mobile computer,” said Walsh.
Ai2 (formerly Access International) is a 24-year old software firm headquartered in downtown Chicago. Their applications are used by over 40,000 users each day to capture over 75 billion dollars in sales each year. Ai2 improves the order entry process for some of the nation’s largest distributors in foodservice, convenience store, grocery, beverage, hardware, medical, beauty and industrial supply.
