Penn Jersey Paper Returns to Ai2

Software Powerhouse Reclaims Longtime Client

CHICAGO - September 30, 2011 - Software developer Ai2 announced today that Penn Jersey Paper of Philadelphia, PA would implement POET®, Ai2's sales automation solution for notebook computers.

Penn Jersey was a customer of Ai2's for several years with its sales force operating on Ai2's flagship OrderWriter product. Penn Jersey chose a different solution for a few months before returning to Ai2 and migrating to a more modern sales automation platform. "Their reps were suffering from a lack of access to critical data since they were using an online-only solution," said Douglas Katich, CEO for Ai2. "With a solution that didn't carry the updated database on the laptop [as POET does], sales reps couldn't use the application in front of the customer, which really slowed down their day-to-day operations."

Penn Jersey is returning to Ai2 because of the two companies' long-standing relationship and the fact that Ai2's software is soft enough to configure to an organization's needs. Using an approach that does not require constant connectivity means the POET application is fast enough to keep up with the pace of foodservice order entry.

POET, an acronym for Portable Order Entry Tool, is an application that allows a mobile sales representative to handle orders, returns, accounting information, margin management and more. The majority of Ai2’s clients are in foodservice, but Katich stressed that POET is a powerful solution for all types of distributors. POET runs on Windows on almost any notebook, netbook or pen tablet PC and is fully compatible with Windows 7. POET is the next generation of Ai2’s flagship notebook solution, OrderWriter.

Penn Jersey Paper Company offers its customers over 7,500 stock items, including leading national brands, and also distributing packaging, paper, chemicals, consumables, smallwares and equipment. Their customers represent many business sections including supermarkets, food services, healthcare, re-distribution, packer processors and retail stores. Operating out of a 250,000 square foot office and warehouse facility located in Northeast Philadelphia, Penn Jersey Paper Company is, according to its website, "committed to providing service and distribution excellence." Ai2 (formerly Access International) was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in downtown Chicago.  Their applications are used by over 75,000 users each day to capture over 75 billion dollars in sales each year.  Ai2 improves the order entry process for some of the nation’s largest distributors in foodservice, convenience store, grocery, beverage, hardware, medical, beauty and industrial supply.  For more information about Ai2, visit www.ai2.com.
