J. Polep Sales Reps Express Adoration for the POW® Solution®

Background

J. Polep Distribution Services ranks as one of the top fifteen Convenience Store Distributors in the Country.  The Polep Family has been in the distribution business for over 100 years.  The original company Polep Tobacco Candy was founded by Charles Polep in 1889 in Salem Massachusetts.

Challenge

In 2004, after experiencing years of phenomenal growth, J. Polep had exceeded the capacity of it’s existing order entry system.  The system used for order entry was a Telxon unit, which had outlived it’s usefulness.  “Our sales reps were using Telxon 2610’s and experiencing numerous data accuracy problems which created a high volume of phone calls to resolve,” says Paul Marusek, Vice President of I.T.  “We needed help maintaining the accuracy between the warehouse and the sales representative.  We needed an easier and more accurate order entry solution,” says Marusek.

J. Polep was seeking an easier and more accurate way for sales reps to handle the order entry process.

Solution: J. Polep Chooses POW

J. Polep chose Ai2’s POW® as their software solution for their order entry problems.  POW® runs on a Pocket PC and J. Polep was looking for flexibility, versatility and simplicity of use to provide order entry functionality in an effort to support it’s phenomenal business growth.

During the vendor selection evaluation J. Polep chose POW® because they found “that the software had the most flexibility and was Pocket PC based,” says Marusek.  “POW® improved not only the quantity of our orders but the quality of orders taken by the sales reps in the field and saved them time.”

“The accuracy of our orders increased, the phone calls dropped and our sales reps are now performing more easily in the field,” says Marusek.
